Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026. This policy describes, in plain language, what information NetTools processes when you use the site, why, and what happens to it. The short version: no accounts, no sale of data, local tools keep your input on your device, and server-assisted checks handle your query only long enough to answer it.

1. Who we are

NetTools is a small independent website offering network diagnostics and web utilities. If you have a privacy question or request, contact us at sns.tww@gmail.com. References to "we" and "the site" in this policy mean NetTools and this website.

2. Tools that run entirely in your browser

Several tools — the Base64 encoder/decoder, timestamp converter, subnet calculator, JSON formatter, password generator, and the parsing on the user agent page — run entirely as JavaScript on your device. The text, numbers, and passwords you enter into them are never transmitted to us or anyone else. They are processed locally and disappear when you close or reload the page. You can verify this by loading a tool, disconnecting from the network, and using it offline. Passwords generated on this site are created on your device and are never sent to, seen by, or stored by us.

3. Server-assisted checks: transient processing

Some checks are technically impossible for a browser to perform, so our server performs them on your behalf. When you use these tools, the details you enter — a hostname, an IP address, a port number — are sent to our server, used to perform that single check, and returned to you as a result. Specifically:

We do not build profiles from tool inputs, do not retain the hostnames, ports, or other values you check beyond the operational necessity of answering the request and protecting the service from abuse, and do not sell or share tool inputs with third parties for marketing. Note that when our server connects to a host you ask us to check, that host's operator will see a connection from our server's IP address and may log it under their own policies.

4. Server logs

Our application server is configured not to log request details, and we minimise the logging around the site to what is needed to operate it securely — for example, detecting errors and abuse. Any infrastructure-level logs that do exist (such as those produced by the web server or hosting platform for security and reliability) are kept only for a limited period, are accessible only for operations and security purposes, and are not used to build advertising or behavioural profiles. Rate limiting, which protects the server-assisted tools from abuse, counts requests per IP address in short-lived memory; it does not create a lasting record of what you checked.

5. Cookies

NetTools does not currently set any cookies of its own for tracking, analytics, or advertising, and the tools work without accounts or sign-in. If any cookie is present in connection with the site today, it is strictly technically necessary for delivering the service (for example, set by our hosting or security infrastructure) and is not used to identify or profile you. Your browser settings let you view, block, and delete cookies at any time, and the site remains fully usable with cookies blocked.

6. Advertising (future)

We may in future fund the site with advertising served by Google AdSense. If we do:

7. Third-party services

The DNS Lookup tool answers queries through Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver (cloudflare-dns.com). When you run a DNS lookup, the domain name you query is sent to Cloudflare for resolution and is handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy; Cloudflare states that its public resolver does not sell DNS query data or use it to target advertising. If advertising is introduced in future, Google will act as a third-party advertising provider as described in Section 6. We do not embed social media widgets or third-party analytics that track you across the web.

8. Security

The site is served over HTTPS so that traffic between your browser and our server is encrypted in transit. Server-assisted endpoints are rate-limited and accept only the narrow inputs each check requires. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we keep the amount of data in our hands as small as the service allows, which is the strongest protection we can offer. If you believe you have found a security issue, see the security reporting note on our contact page.

9. Children

NetTools is a general technical utility site. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the site has no accounts and does not retain tool inputs, there is ordinarily nothing for us to delete; if you believe a child has nevertheless provided us personal information (for example, by email), contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site changes — most notably before any introduction of advertising or any new server-assisted tool. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies to that use.
